This bundle features two issues of the Japanese premium magazine Coyote that focus on Daido Moriyama.
Issue 71 (Autumn 2020) cover story “Daido Moriyama: Pandemic”) dedicates more than sixty pages to the Japanese master photographer, featuring a series of new work taken in Moriyama’s home while the coronavirus was spreading through Japan and the world, as well as an essay in which Moriyama looks back on the year 1969, a dialogue between Moriyama and Japanese photographer Mika Ninagawa, a long look at Moriyama’s work between 1968 and ’82 written by one of his most trusted publishers, Satoshi Machiguchi, and an epilogue (as well as about 100 more pages on other topics).
Issue 64 (Spring 2018, titled “Daido Moriyama for Beginners”) is entirely devoted to Daido Moriyama and his work, with many series (“Farewell, Photography”, “Uwajima” as well as previously unpublished works), interviews and essays on more than 120 pages. Highlights include a dialogue between Moriyama and Nobuyoshi Araki, a story about Moriyama’s meeting with one of his greatest idols, William Klein, as well as commentary by and dialogues with long-term collaborators/publishers Yutaka Kanbayashi and Satoshi Machiguchi (all articles supplied with numerous photos by and of Moriyama).
