Record No. 45
Issue no. 45 of Daido Moriyama’s ongoing Record series, a project started in 1972 and revived in 2006.
As Moriyama writes in his afterword, around the middle of last year his health forced him to spend some time in hospital and stay at his home in Zushi for a while. While his pensive text reflects on his memories of Takuma Nakahira, the photographs included in Record No. 45 (taken between Mid-April and Mid-June, before Moriyama was hospitalized) are as active, lively and electric as ever, featuring snaps, impromptu portraits, patterns and architectural details from the streets of Tokyo.
“Right now, I think it’s about time for me to get back to work and my never changing daily routine in Ikebukuro, and elsewhere in Tokyo.” —from Daido Moriyama’s afterword
