Chiro Ai Shi
Nobuyoshi Araki’s Chiro Ai Shi is a visual document which follows the final days of his beloved cat Chiro’s life. From black and white snapshots to full colour photographs the images present a poignant parallel to Araki’s earlier reflection on the death of his wife Yoko. Within Araki depicts the deteriorating life of the cat against the offset of his nude portraits. Celebrating both life and death, the photographs once again stand as a reminder of the inseperable binary, of life and death; Eros to Thanatos.
