“Ashara” Diary (Photo-Crazy A's Diary)
In his role as the Photo Crazy A, Nobuyoshi Araki presents his photographic diary of the year 2018. For the title of his book, Araki borrows the name of the Asura, three-faced, six-legged demigods of war from Buddhist mythology, punning it with the Japanese character for “photographing” to create his very own deity.
All the conflicting elements of life intersect in Araki’s series. Araki opens and closes his shutter compassionately, allowing emotions to pour onto the photographic film.
“Truth and fiction; this world and the world beyond.
Overcome it all, leave it behind, live on and keep taking photographs in silence…
The 2018 diary of Photo Crazy A.”
