This catalogue, created on occasion of the Nobuyoshi Araki exhibition at the Art Museum of Nanjing University of the Arts (April 12 – May 12, 2019), contains the Japanese master photographer’s many visions of flowers. Flowers as symbols of sex, flowers likened to the beauty of women, flowers as bringers of death, flowers as bearers of strange mysteries. “Kayu (Flower Ghost)” contains series created since the 1990s – Flower Life, Flower Rondo, Millennium Flowers, Lust Flowers, Flower Novel, Flower Spirit, and Polart – as well as “Flower Scroll”, which was created especially for the exhibition in Nanjing.
