Painting Flower (G)

“Painting Flowers” – this 2004 photobook by Nobuyoshi Araki features his perhaps most palpable fusion of flowers and the eros/thanatos duality in Araki’s oeuvre. Trickling Liquitex colors on single leaves or entire bouquets of flowers, on large orchids and roses and tulips, the virile flowers gain in intensity – their red becomes redder, almost as if lusting for life – and the withered ones appear as if embalmed after death.
The book finishes with an interview between Nobuyoshi Araki and Daido Moriyama (only included in Japanese).
Each copy is signed by Nobuyoshi Araki and includes an original inkjet print featuring one of eleven available motifs (Paper Size: W297 x H209 mm, Image Size: W240 x H160 mm).
