Jeff WALL
ジェフ・ウォールの作品は、写真のエッセンスを絵画、映画、文学など他の芸術の要素と融合させたもので、彼が "シネマトグラフィ "と呼ぶ複雑な様式を持つ。彼の写真は、古典的なルポルタージュから精巧な構築物やモンタージュまで多岐にわたり、通常は伝統的に絵画と同義とされる大規模なスケールで制作される。
1946年、カナダのバンクーバー生まれ。コンセプチュアル・アートの全盛期である1960年代に写真に関わるようになり、1970年代半ばには、コンセプチュアリズムの実験精神を絵画写真の新しいバージョンへと発展させた。彼の写真は、当時は写真芸術というよりむしろ宣伝のためのメディアとして認識されていた、逆光のカラー・トランスペアレンシーとして制作された。これらの作品は、ギャラリーや美術館で展示されたときに驚くべき効果をもたらし、写真の美学の重要な側面としての色の確立に一役買った。
