With “There I Sense Something”, award-winning product designer Yumi Terauchi publishes an artbook on Japanese crafts and the master craftspeople who continue the traditions. Told through photographs, “There I Sense Something” introduces not only the beauty of handmade crafts through close-ups of finished items but also conveys the sincerity, skill and thought that goes into their production by showing individual processes and context. It is a 180-page long homage to the subtle beauty of everyday objects and to the refined perfection of traditional arts that kept (and still keep) evolving over hundreds of years in each region of Japan.
