Taiji Matsue Handbook
“Handbook” offers a comprehensive overview of Japanese photographer Taiji Matsue’s entire body of work in 158 images, including early works from the 1980s and his most recent series. In order to express his delicate world-view and sense of beauty, Matsue has travelled around the world to capture deserts, forests and mountains as well as relicts and monuments of human culture – like cities and graveyards. The book concludes with two extensive essays by art critic Shino Kuraishi and curator Naoko Sumi and offers a table of works as well as a biographic summary of Taiji Matsue’s life and career (all in Japanese and English translation).
