Whistle
Haruto Hoshi (b. 1970 in Yokohama), one of Japan’s most thrilling street photography talents, is back with a new photobook.
This is the city that the tourists never see. Yakuza, Hostesses, Transvestites, the far right, youth culture, freaks: this is Hoshi’s city, these are his streets. Following his 2007 release ‘Luminance of Streets’, Hoshi presents the same dense wide-angle flash photography that made him stand out from the rest — this time in color. Each photo a raw snap of the city’s underbelly, each photo telling a whole story.
