Rafuzo
With the photobook “Rafuzou” (Japanese for “nude image”), Japanese publisher Akio Nagasawa releases a series of nude photographs taken by Hajime Sawatari in 1983.
Sawatari, known for masterful works such as “Alice” and “Nadia”, captured the unnamed model in a studio environment using a Polaroid 20x24 camera. With a strong focus on the interplay between shadow and light and on the model’s expression, “Rafuzou” presents a brilliant study of the female form.
