Natsukusa no Michi (Paths through the Summer Grass)
In his new photobook “Natsukusa no Michi” (roughly: Paths through the Summer Grass), Japanese photographer Yudai Murakami captured his hometown Tsuyama and its surrounding in the summer of 2015. In his even-tempered photographs, the landscapes, the towns, the details depicted seem to be in a state of estivation, of waiting out the last weeks of Summer. Humans are mostly absent from Murakami’s images, safe for the odd figure sitting in a field, stature-like. Murakami photographed a town taking a summer break.
