Lost Human Genetic Archive compiles three series of Sugimoto’s that concern themselves with the demise of mankind and civilisation: “Abandoned Theater”, “Lost Human Genetic Archive” and “Sea of Buddha”. A number of essays in Japanese and English at the back complete this examination of the status quo of mankind. The catalogue was published in 2016, commemorating the homonymous exhibition at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum after its grand reopening.
