Tokyo Photographic Art Museum
The Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography is a public art museum specializing in photography and film, which was comprehensively opened in 1995 and reopened on September 3, 2016. The museum was established as the first full-scale cultural facility for photography and imaging in Japan. It is the first museum in Japan dedicated to photography in general, excluding those bearing the names of individuals.
The museum's collection includes works by many of Japan's leading artists, including Nobuyoshi Araki, Shoji Ueda, Ihei Kimura, Issei Suda, Shomei Tomatsu, Ikko Narahara, Hiroshi Hamaya, Tadahiko Hayashi, Eikoh Hosoe, Daido Moriyama, and Yoshio Watanabe.
