“Future Memories” is the first in a series of five to six publications by Berlin-based Swiss artists Taiyo Onorato and Nico Krebs about conceptions, ideas, experiences and sensibilities regarding the future.

For “Future Memories,” Krebs and Onorato investigate past futures, dated visions and relics of outworn ideas. In images created through large-format analog photography and digitally-controlled laser technologies, the artists draw out the finite lifespan of our conceptions of future lifestyles and the transformations that visionary ideas underwent during the past decades. In the process, their varied photographs (ranging from surreal sci-fi associations to realistic surveys of the present) investigate the complex causal relationships between past images and experiences and their interpolation into illustrations of the future.
