Daichi Koda’s sombre, dark exploration of the “Forest” offers no true explanation of the question he poses in his afterword. The photobook contents itself with capturing its mystery, its spirituality, its otherness. Koda steps into the forest with the knowledge that the forest is a place different from society, and that it has been made so.
