This book is a compilation of Risaku Suzuki’s photography contributions to Toshiyuki Horie’s monthly column ‘Dontenki’ from the magazine Tokyojin, featuring photos from the 7th to the 100th issue (2009–2017) of the series.

Suzuki took the photographs (or selected a photograph from his own archive) after reading Horie’s column. They divert from Suzuki’s usual practice of shooting long-term projects based on certain themes. Some of the works included in this book are taken as a playful part of Suzuki’s daily life, others represent variations of Suzuki’s main series or experiments.

Another noteworthy aspect of this series is its monochromatic nature. So far, Suzuki has always published his vision in color, either in the form of photobooks or prints. As a rare exception, all images in ‘Dontenki/Shashin’ are in black and white.
