Cue the Sun

Trent PARKE

Publisher: Stanley / Barker

In the beginning of 2020, just before the Corona pandemic would begin to change the world, Australian photographer Trent Parke was touring through Northern India, accompanying Australian cricket captain Steve Waughn to document the spirit of cricket.

The stunning photobook “Cue The Sun,” designed as a fold-out, double-printed 20-meter long leporello, was produced as Parke travelled between Agra, Amritsar, Delhi, Dharamshala, Meerut and Mathura, the photographs shot from fast-moving taxis and buses as the world rushed by outside. Heightened by the book’s design, each moment stands alone yet remains interconnected. Filtered through Parke’s photographic sensibilities, the scenes form a deeply affecting series with dream-like, fantastical qualities.

“I kept feeling as though I could have been in any number of other countries at a given time. Though the windows I felt the past and future collide. The contradiction, beauty, chaos and hope. Humanity on the move.” ― from Trent Parke’s statement
