Keiichi Tanaami’s belief in the “book as artwork” idea is once again brilliantly expressed with “Amulet of the Tapir”, a 400-page strong collection of Tanaami’s graphic art. Psychedelia-inspired styles and comic elements feature heavily in Tanaami’s artworks, with human faces – often bizarrely deformed or as skulls – a common theme.
“Amulet of the Tapir” also features several work-in-progress documentation shots of his works as well as a comprehensive list of works and exhibitions and photographs from the artist’s living space.
