Kojiro Iida, now known as the “phantom photographer”, is not a name familiar to many. He was a prolific figure in the early decades of Japanese photography, with work published in international photography magazines as early as 1922. He disappeared before the Japanese photography magazines saw their first boom, and none of his original photographic plates remain.
This publication attempts to bring his works back into the public conscience. It features 24 reproductions of his works, including portraits, landscapes, street photography and montages as well as contemporary articles about his work and newly written essays about the artist (in Japanese).
