“Bodies that have been formed over an unfathomable amount of time through evolution were shaped with a balance and function that are hundreds of times more complex than what human consciousness and language can encompass.”

In his nude art, Japanese photographer Ryosuke Handa transforms the female body into lines, curves, abstract landscapes—into “gentle scenes created through a woman’s vitality”, as Handa writes in the afterword.
He chooses to shoot with natural light only, scheduling his sessions to take place in the early afternoon. “Light from the sun, having travelled 150,000,000 kilometers in 8 minutes and 19 seconds, reflects off the wall of the next-door building, crosses the frosted glass, and gently envelops the model’s body from behind.”
