Berenice ABBOTT
アメリカ人写真家のベレニス・アボットは、パリとニューヨークの写真界と文化の中心地の中心人物であり、重要な架け橋であった。彼女はオハイオ州スプリングフィールドに生まれ、1918年にニューヨークに移り、そこで独自に彫刻を学び、アメリカ・アヴァンギャルドの指導者であるマルセル・デュシャンやマン・レイと出会い、重要な関係を築いた。1921年、パリに移り住んだアボットは、そこで彫刻の勉強を続け、後にベルリンでも学び、パリに戻ってマン・レイ・スタジオのアシスタントになり、そこで写真を習得する。最初の個展は1926年、パリのギャラリー、ル・サクレ・デュ・プランタンで開催され、パリのアヴァンギャルドのポートレートを展示した。
