Walks Tokyo 2022
With “Walks Tokyo 2022,” Japanese photographer Shoshi Okamoto (b. 1962) presents a series of photographs taken in 2022 during photo walks throughout Tokyo. The format follows Okamoto’s previous books “Tokyo 1985,” “Tokyo Summer 2020,” and “Everyday Tokyo 2021,” as the photographer and disciple of Moriyama and Fukase has rekindled his interest in taking and sharing his images.
In black and white, Okamoto renders a portrait of life in Tokyo with wit and endless interest. His images place people in-midst overwhelming urban architecture, turn them into main characters or indulge in the little humorous moments that are only become visible in photography.
