The Boy
The Boy
The body as a subject in Nakamura’s photographs goes through a variety of transformations such as fragmentation, dissolution, contortion, and merger, and eventually assumes an air of the in-between, a neither-nor of the human and inhuman. The dim light condition that she consistently uses also contributes much to this de-formative or entropic process by which the continuous silhouette of the entire body is broken in favor of a network of randomly illuminated lines and spots connected through evocative darkness.
