Summer of the DEAD
This photobook by Japanese photographer Masafumi Sanai was shot over three summers in Tokyo, Okinawa and Macau, together with Japanese poet and writer Kaito Okachimachi, in an imagined “fight against hordes of invisible zombies.”
During their travels (and fictional zombie fights), Sanai and Okachimachi worked together like an “amateur band on their first tour” and let their photography and words inspire each other, which is reflected in the book’s design: photograph follows poem follows photograph follows poem follows photograph follows poem.
