Inspired by Kurt Vonnegut’s classic antiwar novel “Slaughterhouse Five,” Japanese artist Miho Kajioka utilizes photography and the format of the photobook to explore themes such as memory, chronology, and place. Printed on see-through paper, Kajioka’s photographs, image fragments and quotes overlap and blend with each new turn of the page; the future always already in view. Themes such as birds and hands reappear and connect, and places begin to seem familiar as the book continues. Fascinated by the meaning of time, Kajioka experiments with frozen moments and interrogates the importance of order on meaning.
This unlimited edition follows the original 500-print run of “So it goes, so it goes” released in 2020. Miho Kajioka’s “So it goes” was the winner of the 2019 Prix Nadar.
