Motodablack
The first solo exhibition of Keizo Motoda titled “On the street, Osaka” was held in 1996. Since around then, Motoda has been taking snapshots on the street and observing the dynamism of the cities such as Tokyo and Osaka.
‘Motodablack’ is composed of photographs of the cars and motorbikes on the street at night with a 4×5 format camera, black and white films.
He focuses emblems and brand logo marks of the subjects.
The photographs convey their material presence with strong density of blackness.
Any metallic surface of the vehicles, with the raindrops, cracks and stains being glittered never escaped his notice and vivid texture were fixed on photographs.
His blackness reflects eroticism and chaos of streets in cities.
Motoda has lectures in photography at Visual Arts of Tokyo.
