Mimetic Maps 2
Graphic designer Tomoyuki Koseko’s series of “Mimetic Maps” is an experimental combination of art and graphic design. Mixing and overlaying topographical maps with cross sections of trees , Koseko highlights surprising graphical similarities and offers a fresh perspective on the world map.
Simply overlaying a topographical map of Mount Fuji with an image of a tree’s growth-rings unearthed unexpected common aspects between the two. The zine also features a few graphical experiments by Koseko, in which he applies the tree-ring/map patterns to fashion items and wrapping paper.
