Hong Kong Lost Laundry
“Hong Kong Lost Laundry” – Michael Wolf’s last loveletter to the city of Hong Kong, his adopted home
Michael Wolf has chronicled life in Hong Kong since 2003, photographing its back alleys, transforming gloves, chairs, scrubbers and laundry into visual sculptures with his typical humor and deep interest. “Lost Laundry” focuses on the clothes blown off washing lines by the wind and dispersed all over the city’s electric wires, roofs and billboards. Wolf’s visual encyclopedia of Hong Kong’s now-independent items of clothing in their new, temporary arrangements with the city’s environment tell us little stories about life in Hong Kong’s tight spaces.
The book was designed and completely with Michael Wolf shortly before his death on April 24, 2019. “Hong Kong Lost Laundry” is the last volume of Wolf’s “Informal Solutions” series.
