Go there
Gen Sakuma is a photographer based in Tokyo. He has been taking photographs on the street of Tokyo, whilst established TAP Gallery in Kiyosumi-Shirakawa, Tokyo. This photobook is a compilation of his series ‘Go There’ that he has consistently worked on since his first exhibition held in 2006.
Scenes caught through his trademark glasses are a little bit different from those we see in our everyday lives. His photography is an accumulation of images detached from the name of place that these images originally belong to. Yet, these nameless images render what his photography is seeking for; another world.
The photobook is fully wrapped in red. It is covered with red cloth and the edges are also silk-screened in red. The symbol of the artist, the glasses, overlap with an image from his photography on the front cover.
