Eden
“Eden”, a posthumous monument of the Japanese master photographer’s brilliance.
Taken over a period of one year, beginning with the first ray of the sun on January 1, 2000, Issei Suda’s “Eden” series consists of photographs shot in various parts of Chiba Prefecture. The images are evidence of the late photographer’s remarkable skill as reality and light become materials for self-expression and for capturing reality in its different forms. The book ends with texts originally used in the press releases of Suda’s three “Eden” exhibitions (2002-2004) as well as a personal essay by Masato Seto about the series and Issei Suda as a photographer (all texts included in Japanese and English translation).
