In 2017, Australian photographer Rohan Hutchison joined an Italian-Norwegian expedition to the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard, located in the Arctic Ocean. Hutchison, a renowned landscape photographer, documented an Arctic already affected by climate change. Once he returned to Melbourne, he exposed his photographic prints to the Australian sun, burning down through a weakened ozone layer.
“An Error Has Occured” presents the resulting works together with the original photographs.

“The works act as both a poignant allegory for the global resonance of our actions and as a précis on the limits and potentials of the photographic medium, taking Hutchinson’s research-based practice to new creative terrains in the process.”
