Ten years after his controversial photobook “Surrendered Myself to the Chair of Life”, Japanese photographer Jin Ohashi is back with a deeply affecting, raw work about life.

Busy with the intricacies of his own life, Ohashi received news that his mother was going to die. Now well into his forties, Ohashi was going to make new experiences again.
“For the first time, I had sex while thinking of my dying mother,” he writes in his afterword.

Through his own picture language, Ohashi brilliantly builds a narrative around the infathomable events and truths of life. While the inevitable loss of his mother remains the central motif throughout the book, Ohashi relays his experiences and perspective in powerful sequences, including many smaller episodes, realizations and anecdotes within the greater arc of his grief.
