With his photobook “Walking in Place 1: New Orleans,” Los Angeles-based photographer Mike Slack recorded a playful yet calming visual walk through the city of New Orleans. Aided by the choice of paper and the design of the book, leafing through the pages reminisces a pleasant stroll through previously unknown neighborhoods of a familiar city. Slack’s keen eye for visual formalism and his elegant framings of architectural peculiarities, local characteristics, flora and not to forget the occasional cat culminated in a genuinely refreshing, unique photobook experience.
