Tombstone Pile Driver
“Tombstone Pile Driver” goes back to Osamu Kanemura’s roots. Though Kanemura has in recent years expanded his output to include video works, digital photography and handmade publications, the core of his work is tied to manual film photography. For “Tombstone Pile Driver”, Kanemura takes a dive into unreleased material shot in Tokyo in the 1990s. Laid out to cover every square inch of every page in photographs, Kanemura soaks up the complicated, uncoordinated beauty of Tokyo’s architectural structure, its chaos of lines and surfaces, to create an experience as overwhelming as having one’s head driven into the ground.
