Chinese artist Huang Xiao Liang’s book “Mais la nuit ne part pas pour autant” (“But the night has not yet gone away”) is situated on the skirts of the genre ‘photobook’. His unique blend of manipulated photographs, drawings and text, together with the book’s peculiar design, forms a rather poetic and allegorical experience. While his inspirations – and the basis of his photographs – lie in daily life, the book itself draws a dream-like, layered sequence by borrowing techniques from the world of cinema and shadow puppetry.
