Little Faded Trip
Unable to travel, Koji Onaka directed his attention towards the past.
In spring of 2020, the developing corona pandemic made staying at home a necessity. In lieu of traveling to other countries and regions, Japanese photographer Koji Onaka decided to travel in time. He stayed in his darkroom and hand-printed photographs taken during trips all over Japan from more 20-odd years ago. Although the color negatives had already begun fading, the new mysterious color tones proved a blessing rather than a drawback. Subject-wise, Onaka focuses on mundane views whose inherent beauty reveals itself through framing, arrangement and subtle color tones.
“From Hokkaido to Okinawa, please enjoy this journey that only analog photography can provide.”
