Inspired by photographs of Yosemite Park, Thomas Albdorf’s “General View” explores the complex relationship between photography as a way of picturing the world around us and the conventions that shape our experience of seeing — conventions that are increasingly altered by the rise of digital technology. The images feature ‘sculptural’ approaches as seen in Albdorf’s earlier series as well as digital manipulations in order to re-enact photographic glitches as they appear on Google Street View.
