Fate in Spring
A hint of death in the air…
Sakiko Nomura’s photos in “Fate in Spring” are fading, fleeting, sometimes accusing. Each image appears like a further subtle punch. Nomura created this book following the death of her grandmother. In thought, she revisits nostalgic feelings towards the friends who have already passed on; in design, the book resembles a sutra book with Buddhist prayers for the dead. Despite the dark, contemplative mood, Nomura injects life, excitement, even eroticism into her meditative series. A strong, straightforward visual musing on life and its passing.
