Beirut
“The history of Beirut calls for constant resurrection. The Beirut of Serge Najjar is the book of time dreamt, reinvented and then accomplished, the book of a captured time.”
― Ferrante Ferranti
In his book “Beirut,” Lebanese photographer Serge Najjar documents the architecture of Beirut in images that transport the viewer into a fantastical space where the rules of our world seem no longer to apply. His geometric, minimalistic images utilizing lines, shadows, light, angles and time, his minimalistic compositions interrogate the urban space of the Lebanese capital in relation to the human scale and access a fantastical, almost illogical side of reality.
“Beirut” also includes a dialogue between Serge Najjar and photographer and architect Ferrante Ferranti (hosted by Jean-Luc Monterosso).
