Nanzuka
NANZUKA was established in 2005 in Shibuya, Tokyo, under the name NANZUKA UNDERGROUND, as an experimental project gallery, aiming to connect pop culture and contemporary art. Since then, the gallery has been active as an academic gallery dealing with creativity in peripheral fields such as design, illustration, street, manga, fashion and music.
It has introduced artists such as Keiichi Tanaami, Motoi Sorayama, Harumi Yamaguchi and Toshio Saeki. The gallery re-evaluates talent that has long been appreciated outside the Japanese art scene and strives to introduce them to the international contemporary art arena. At the same time, it also focuses on nurturing and supporting young and mid-career artists from Japan and abroad, and actively cooperates and exchanges with galleries abroad. 12 years on, AISHONANZUKA was established in Hong Kong in collaboration with Aisho Miura Arts.
In June 2021, the gallery relocated and opened in Jingumae as NANZUKA UNDERGROUND. It continues its activities as a flagship gallery.
