Yes
“William Klein: Yes” is a comprehensive introduction to the creative work of the exceptional multi-disciplinary artist William Klein (1926–2022). Published to accompany the retrospective exhibition at the International Center of Photography in New York in 2022, this book is the last publication completed by Klein in his lifetime. Beginning with a long text by curator David Campany outlining Klein’s career, “Yes” introduces Klein’s groundbreaking and enduring work—from his street photographs in New York in the 1950s, his fashion photography to his abstract paintings, his graphic designs, his films, and his portraits.
Given the extensive nature of the book as well as Klein’s involvement in its design and content selection, “Yes” represents one of the best opportunities to explore the vast body of work by one of the 20th century’s most original artists.
“[C]contemporary audiences are finally catching up with Klein. He engaged with so many cultures around the world in order to discover what they were, and to discover something of himself in the process. He worked in so many different areas of the arts, figuring out how they operated and discovering for himself if he could do it in his own generous, inimitable and provocative way. Moving on before he ever got bored, or boring.”
