jump into bed with me
In order to reach the photographs filed away in Paul Knight’s photobook “Jump Into Bed With Me,” the reader first has to uncover them by leafing, digging through pages of edited transcripts of messages between Knight and his (unnamed) lover. First and foremost, “Jump Into Bed With Me” is a love letter to love and passion, with the photos depicting loving acts in all shapes and forms and moments, captured with a diaristic gaze: sex, lazying about, laundry, pub visits, short trips into nature, domestic boredom and so on. Knight’s photos were taken by placing his 35mm camera on an available surface and setting the timer: the photos are the result of both planning and chance; staging as well as truth. “‘Jump Into Bed With Me’ is at once a missive to a lover and an ode to photography’s intrinsic processes. The camera, when left to its own devices, can capture wonderful and beautiful things.” (from the publisher’s description)
