The Japan-based street photography magazine “Vacuum” celebrates its tenth issue by continuing to offer uncompromising, energetic, unconventional photography from its nine collaborators. Though limited to black-and-white, each of the nine series focuses on a variety of specific themes, subjects or places—from“Auspicious (Grandpa)” by Hsuan Lang Lin to “Shanghai” by Yuko Hirano, “Quiet Days” by Shogo Yamada or “Looking for Tomorrow’s Black” by Ryosuke Koshino.

Since its first issue, “Vacuum” affords its contributing photographers the creative freedom to explore their own subjects and the necessary space to exhibit an entire series. With its range of perspectives, styles, locations and worldviews, “Vacuum” continues to push the standards of Japanese street photography.
