Times Have Changed
Hong Kong-based photographer Hang Tam takes a wistful look back at the disappearing past of his home.
Through its simple yet brilliant design, Hang Tam forces the reader to peel away the neon signs of a street – an inseparable part of Hong Kong’s identity – during the first pages, a haptic and visual reminder of Hong Kong’s ongoing evolution and change. Based around a postcard from 1972 that the artist randomly found, the book is an inventive rumination on past and present, on the inevitableness of change, and of the things that may be lost in the process.
Each copy of the photobook is handmade by the artist. All texts included in Chinese and English.
