Marching Wolves
New York-based Japanese photographer Fumi Nagasaka’s book “Marching Wolves” follows the members of the St. Paul-based high-school band, the Marching Wolves.
From her first encounter with the band during a trip to New Orleans in 2017, Nagasaka was immediately inspired by their youth, their energy, their style, their tension, and their seriousness. She returned to New Orleans several times between 2017 and 2020 to photograph the band members during their practice and in private, capturing a beautiful and unique portrait of ambition, youth, and the importance of local cultures and traditions.
