“In the summer of 2009, I visited Mt. Koya for the first time to participate in an art event called “Happy Maker”. The experience resounded deep within my body and soul, and made a great impact on my work as a photographer. While living communally with the other participants in a temple, I went out walking in the mountains during breaks in the exhibition. Among the places I visited, Okuno-in Temple’s appeal was especially strong, extending to all six of my senses, and overwhelming me with its unique atmosphere. The air and slow pace of the mountain and the kindness of the people seemed to permeate my entire being with a sense of calm and security. “
