FOREIGNER: Migration into Europe 2015–2016
FOREIGNER: Migration into Europe 2015–2016
This book is a continuation of our project I Peri N'Tera, which documented the topic of migration to Italy from North Africa. It includes images from that project, as well photos taken during furhter trips to migration 'hot-spots' around Europe between September 2015 and April 2016. Alongside the photography, written texts offer a context for the photographs and share the stories of the people in them.
The book serves as an alternative to the imagery used by the mainstream media to depict Europe's refugee and migrant crisis. We wanted to approach the subject from a calmer perspective, using photography as a means of meeting the people at the centre the crisis face to face - and of learning something about their lives.
The book was shortlisted for the First Book Award, a photography publishing prize established to support emerging photographers, and is available to buy through the Mack website.
