Bangkok
“I prefer cities that are somewhat cluttered, disorderly, chaotic, and bustling with vitality—I naturally gravitate towards that kind of city because it feels more human to me …
I pointed my camera towards the sense of chaos, which I am subconsciously curous about or attracted to.”
― from Takami Takeda’s afterword “Enthralled by the Breath of Chaos”
With each new page and each new photo, Takami Takeda makes a further statement on the beauty of this chaos, this unorderly energy to which he is so attracted. His photobook “Bangkok” celebrates not clutter and mess nor destitution or poverty but raw, uncontained energy. In his beautifully colored photographs, Bangkok appears like a place that cannot hide its strata, that seems to burst from the multitude of (socially, personally, economically) different layers occuring at once and in the same physical space.
