After the Second World War, Mitsutoshi Hanaga (b. 1933) experienced the bright side of the post-war period as much as the dark side. In his work, Hanaga captured the stories that unfolded below the visible surface and concerned himself with an underground world that saw itself ignored by society.
In the many images selected for this publication, significant movements of this era is filtered through Hanaga's unique photographic eye, thereby preserving their importance for future generations.
